Why Attend

EmployAbility in Law is a unique initiative designed to improve the employability and career opportunities of talented disabled students and graduates interested in pursuing a career in law.

EmployAbility in Law has been developed by EmployAbility and the participating law firms to deliver the first outcome based event of its kind - aimed at increasing the number of talented disabled students gaining training contracts or vacation scheme places,.

This unique event designed specifically to source, develop and recruit disabled talent, will allow participants to:

  • Meet with representatives and recruiters from Clifford Chance, Herbert Smith Freehills, Reed Smith, and more
  • Learn more about roles, opportunities and career pathways within the legal profession
  • Learn about the recruitment processes of Law Firms and find out about what they look for in prospective employees
  • Engage in a panel discussion, offering you the chance to ask questions to Law Firm recruiters, disabled employees and other experts
  • Socialise and network at the drinks reception

Each section has been specifically tailored to provide pertinent information about the recruitment process and life as a lawyer, whilst also addressing sensitive issues such as disclosure of disability, and how to manage the impact of disability in the workplace in the legal sector.

Here’s what people said about the event…

A fantastic event that gave me an invaluable insight into the recruitment process for jobs in the legal sector …The event personally re-assured me that jobs for disabled students are both available and achievable at the top of the legal profession. Thank you to EmployAbility for giving me the confidence to pursue my dream career at a leading City law firm...

We think it is very important to work to remove barriers to success. We know disabled candidates sometimes self-select out of applying to certain firms and, by participating in the “EmployAbility in Law” event, we wanted to demonstrate to students and graduates that we are looking for the best people from any background, whether or not they have a disability, to help participants develop their employability skills and to give participants the opportunity to ask lots of questions.
